African Nations Championship Preview

Niger will come into this game with their destiny still in their hands, as they occupy the second spot in Group B. However, they will need to be aiming to win all three points to ensure that they make it through to the next round of the competition this season. They have drawn both games that they have played so far. Niger drew on the opening night against Libya, before they claimed a 1-1 draw against Congo last time out. Niger needed to score late in that game to salvage a point, as Mossi Issa Moussa scored with 20 minutes remaining from the penalty spot. They still would have been disappointed not to have won the game, as they had more than enough clear cut opportunities in the game to get the game won. Niger will take confidence into this final group game in the African Nations Championship, as they have never lost to DR Congo. The first meeting between the sides came in an international friendly in 1966, which was won 2-1 by Niger. However, the most recent meeting between the nations came in 2013, as the sides played out a 0-0 draw.
DR Congo are the only side in Group B with a win under the belts as we come into the final round of fixtures. They picked up that win in the opening match that they played against local rivals Congo. It was a game of very few chances on the opening night in this group, but they were able to claim the win after Chico Ushindi Wa Kubanza scored two minutes into the second half. The win means that they are in complete control of these group at this stage of proceedings. They managed to maintain their unbeaten start to the group by the skin of their teeth last time out, as they claimed a 1-1 draw against Libya. Amede Masasi scored in the 94th minute of that second outing to secure a point.
